HARMONY & CHAOS | On the last night of Art Basel we came together in a striking private chamber at a sumptuous South Beach haunt. Hidden away behind elaborately carved wood doors in an intimate room with a splendidly ornate ceiling, we found ourselves surrounded by opulent textures of modernist Orientalism. The alluring venue, and the select gathering, offered a welcome respite from the bustle of the art world, granting us the opportunity to savor these lush surroundings and relish each other's company. In fact, so wrapped up did we become in our table-talk that it escaped our attention when a raging storm hit land, no more than a stone's throw away. Mother Nature's roar had fallen on deaf ears! And yet, for all the high drama, the evening ended with a moment of unexpected comedy deemed highly memorable by all.
